host: carolyn mckinney. guest: one thing that dr. paul has talked about consistently is blowback. blowback is something that was defined by the cia, and it is the consequences of our actions. unfortunately the american people are not able to put it did to the proper context, because our activities overseas are not always known to the public. so he -- i think he is one of -- has the most integrity in that he is the only one that wants to take responsibility for what we have done, and also to return to the founders' view of non interventionism. that as a farm policy philosophy that george washington and thomas jefferson and a lot of the other founders suggested that we use, and it was in place widely speaking until world war rahman one. -- world war one. he is talking of basically a return to one of america's first principles. i am glad he is able to talk about that on the republican stage. it is refreshing. host: evelyn is our next caller, on our line for independents. go-ahead, evelyn. caller: i like to say

let's take our next call for carolyn and doug. it's from houston, texas. gregory, you're on the air. >> hi. good evening. i had a couple of quick questions. first was besides having the most popular votes since t.r., what similarities do you see with mr. perot and ted yes roosevelt in terms of their views -- teddy roosevelt in terms of their views and outlooks and politics? who were some of the role models for ross perot? he seems to have -- he seems to have followed the mantra of william jennings brian, harry s. truman, the buck stops here. >> douglas brinkley has written a biography about teddy roosevelt. you'll take that question. >> when i got to talk to mr. perot he has two evergreen heroes and it's theodore roosevelt and winston churchill. and he takes a lot from them. we forget now that both of them were considered in t.r.'s case a damn cowboy when roosevelt became president, he was just -- mckinley was assassinated. and the republican party of mark hanna and the old mckinley machine didn't trust t.r. he was considered an iconoclast and individualis

carolyn barta is the author. she is joining us from her home in texas. you knew ross perot as a journalist before many people met hi. can you tell us about his roots in texarkana and what shaped the man we knew of a national stage? >> perot was from texarkana. he had an average texas childhood. as a boy he broke horses and traded horses. he was an eagle scout. even in later tonight i think he kept all of the traits of the eagle scout. he would set of objectives and goals and try to pursue those goals. he was very much in the texas tradition of the day. as he grew and went to the naval academy and started his own businesses, he was representing the can-do spirit of texas. his vision was a big, the state was big, there were powerless opportunities. the sky was the limit. he really sort of played into what was the texas mythology with texas politicians who were larger than life, very successful businessman who made a fortune here. they were risk takers, they were not afraid to fail. that was the sort of spirit he had at that i think got him into this thing.

new hampshire, carolyn is calling us. did you see the event or did you watch it on tv? caller: i was watching it on channel 16, but then i drove up town to see what the parking situation was and then we decided to come back home. host: well, there was quite a crowd here so you probably had the warmer of the two choices. did you come out because you support him or have you made up your mind? caller: i have made up my mind, and it is jon huntsman. i met rick santorum last night. he is personal and pleasant. he is too far right on social issues for me. one of the other concerns i have, one of the reasons i like huntsman and romney too is there executive experience. i feel santorum does not have that kind of management experience that i feel is very important. huntsman also has great international experience. i just wanted to call in and let you know how i was -- host: tell us how your candidate is doing with voters here in new hampshire. do you think he is connecting? caller: people i talked to when i say i am supporting huntsman, they all say he is the best, but he has no
